Events and community activities
The Cooper River Bridge Run, a 10-kilometer run and 4.4 mile walk, begins in Mt. Pleasant every year, usually in April. Hosted by the Medical University of South Carolina, the footrace is the largest of its kind in the Southeast, attracting about 30,000 participants.
Sweetgrass basket making, known to be a 300-year old tradition.
Sailboat regattas are held in June, July, and August at Columbia, Beaufort, Mount Pleasant, and Charleston.
